IN OUR OPINION ... a delightful new boutique hotel in a great postion in the centre of the resort.
The Hotel La Rouja (formerly part of the Hotel Ayas) is situated in the centre of the resort just across the river from the Hotel Castor and in an attractive position with views up and down the valley. The hotel has been the subject of a complete refurbishment and we are pleased to be including it in our programme for future years.
The extensive renovation work has involved the use of lots of local wood and traditional material and the result is very pleasing! The quality of the fixtures and fittings and style of the property makes it, in our opinion, one of the finest hotels in Champoluc.
All 13 rooms, of varying sizes and aspect, have en-suite bathroom and many have good views up or down the Ayas Valley. Most rooms have a hydro-massage shower whilst the two largest suites have baths. Some rooms also have their own small sauna facility built in to the shower cubicle!
The 2 Superior rooms have a double bed and two single beds in the eaves of the roof (limited head height for the children) and are ideal for families with young children. There are also 2 other larger Junior Suites, each with a double bed plus a double sofa bed (these rooms will also accommodate an extra 'camp' bed). The Suites and Superior rooms carry a supplement.
2 out of the 9 Standard rooms (on which our brochure prices are based) have fixed double beds, but the remainder can be double or twin bedded. 3 of the Standard rooms can accommodate an extra bed. The hotel has two set of inter-connecting rooms - 1 double bedded four-poster room, inter-connecting with 1 twin bedded room (both rooms have bathrooms with showers). Please note that neither of these rooms are particularly spacious, but they do offer good accommodation for a family of 4.
There is also a room (double bed only) in the apex of the roof of the hotel, accessed via an external door on the third floor. The door leads out on to a covered balcony from which stairs led up to the door of the bedroom, tucked away in the apex of the roof of the hotel. A great room for those looking for a little privacy!
On the entrance level is a reception area leading to the dining room where cold buffet breakfasts and 4 course dinners (normally 3 choices at each course) are served. The food comes highly recommended.
In the basement is a large lounge / bar area with wood burning stove and comfy seating. The second stage of the refurbishment will include the addition of a new fitness centre including a sauna, Jacuzzi and Turkish bath. Please note that these facilities are on in place yet.
This hotel is fast becoming one of our best selling properties! Call 01962 713330 for details. Louise, Sarah and Eleanor from our UK office have all stayed at this hotel and would be pleased to discuss the property. We also have some more internal photos of this hotel which we can email you.
